【Game Recommendation with Helmet】Hi-Fi RUSH, an extraordinary action-packed game.

"Is this a tech blog?"

"Not entirely."

"Then why are there only tech articles?"

"......"

I rarely express my opinions on games I've played, but today I want to recommend this game Hi-Fi RUSH, it's really fun. Hi-Fi RUSH is an action game developed by Tango. It was released at the end of January this year, but at that time I was playing Devil May Cry 5, and then I encountered Atomic Heart, and Tango's previous game Ghostwire: Tokyo was not well received, so I overlooked this game. Finally, in April, I bought Hi-Fi RUSH on the recommendation of a classmate, and since then, I haven't been able to put it down.

Brief Introduction#

Hi-Fi RUSH is a rhythm-based third-person action game, you can think of it as a combination of rhythm games and Devil May Cry. It is mainly a linear main storyline, not counting hidden levels, the gameplay is not long, it takes about 10 hours to complete. After completing the game, you can choose to freely explore the levels (there are many hidden levels that can only be unlocked in the second playthrough).

I am currently doing a full collection, and I feel that with the hidden levels and full collection, the game time should reach around 30 hours.

The main storyline is quite typical, solving a few small bosses, solving a big boss, and ultimately saving the world, but the game's storytelling and character relationships are well done, with some refreshing moments. To avoid spoilers, I won't go into detail about the story.

Graphics#

First of all, I personally love games with stylized rendering (like Genshin Impact), and secondly, the graphics of Hi-Fi RUSH are really impeccable. The cel-shaded art style is very eye-catching, with vibrant and lively colors, making it a very enjoyable experience. The stylized UI and special effects are also very impressive.

Related to this is the performance effects, basically all major plot twists are accompanied by CG animations. Even in scenes without CG, the atmosphere rendering, framing, and sound effects of the 3D scenes are excellent (I even think they are better than CG in terms of presentation). The character animations and expressions are very lively, and there are no awkward or out-of-place performances.

Music#

The music in this game is very catchy. Your attacks, combos, jumps, and dodges are all accompanied by bass accompaniment, and all interactive elements in the game, including the protagonist, will move to the rhythm of the music. During battles, you can't help but nod your head and tap your feet.

Gameplay#

Action#

The game includes common elements such as light attacks, heavy attacks, dodges, and combos. The player's goal is to press the attack button in time with the background music. The more accurate the timing, the higher the score. Even if the player's attacks are not in rhythm, the protagonist in the game will adjust the wind-up to ensure that each attack falls on the beat, guiding the player to find the correct timing for the buttons. There are many combos in the game, and when the attack rhythm is correct, it will trigger QTE for combos. Combos need to be unlocked using gears (a type of collectible) in the store. (I still haven't used the XYXY combo in actual combat)

As the story progresses, the protagonist gains the ability to summon teammates. Correspondingly, the teammates also have skills and QTEs, and they will also play a role in map exploration.

Mini Games#

In addition to the common action elements, the game also has some interesting mini-games, such as dodging lasers and various QTEs (such as QTEs for repairing machines and rhythm games like Taiko no Tatsujin). In the later chapters of the game, there are also forced dodging mechanisms when encountering large monsters, requiring dodging to break their shields before they can be killed.

Punishment#

Although Hi-Fi RUSH focuses on rhythm, it does not have a clear punishment mechanism. Following the rhythm only results in higher damage and higher score, and it doesn't break combos. The store also has various buffs (chips, combos) to increase the satisfaction. The only possible punishment is the shield counter when dodging in this game. As long as it's not perfect, you have to start over 🥲

Summary#

Go play it!!! 😤😤😤
